Mad Yourself A Man 403: The Good News, with Matt Ufford

They’re not Homosexuals, They’re Divorced

Great news, it’s a Don in California episode of Mad Men and a banger episode of the pod. Head of video at Yahoo Sports and OG friend of the Frot, Matt Ufford, joins Matt and Vince to talk about season four episode three, β€œThe Good News.”

It’s too bad Anna Draper has to die. Don really couldn’t ask for a cooler, chiller girl to be the wife of the guy whose identity he stole. All she wants from him is to hang out, smoke grass, nail her teenage niece, and keep paying her mortgage. It’s a sweet deal for everyone involved, but all sweet deals must come to end. Anna’s got (leg?) cancer. She’s gonna die, and Don is sad about it.Β

The good news for you the viewer is that Mad Men is often funniest when the mad men are sad men. Back in New York, one of Mad Men’s saddest men, Lane Pryce, is feeling very divorced and ready to hang, so they catch a Godzilla flick, get crowd worked by Finn DeTrolio, and end the night with some sex workers. It sounds pathetic, but feeling so pathetic is what motivates a man to pretend his steak is a big ol’ Texas belt buckle.

Frotcast 668: Neighbors

This week on the Frotcast, we are pleased to announce that we do not appear in the Epstein files! TOTALLY EXONERATED

We start with the heartwarming story of one handsome paisano’s battle against the American health insurance racket. No ladies and gentlemen, we’re not talking about Luigi Mangione, at least not yet. Also, instead of β€œheartwarming” that was supposed to say β€œKafkaesque”. Vince finds out that his health insurance apparently does not cover his feet, much like Vince himself after he saw The Hobbit too many times. Tell ten of your friends to subscribe to the Frotcast now so that Vince doesn’t have to sell pics of his feet online just to afford insurance for them. Maybe we should set up a toefundme?

Next up, we discuss Clay Parikh, his big boy haircut (interested Vince McMahon face), his commitment to secrecy that nonetheless resulted in a two hour-long interview with Talking Points Memo (titillated Vince McMahon face), his insistence on sanitizing his soda with alcohol (busting ropes Vince McMahon face), and Ron Swanson as his inspiration for subverting federal elections (laser eyes Vince McMahon face). These people are fucking weird man! Seems like the kind of campaign slogan that could win Democrats some votes if they weren’t so enamored with fucking losing all the time.

Elsewhere in Trumpworld, we meet an actual relatable person, in that she would rather go to jail than have to fulfill an impossible workload being placed on her by dimwitted reactionaries. Honestly man that sounds tight. Lock me up too, and can one of you take my daughter to soccer practice and organize the garage? (holds fist up) DON’T FREE JULIE LE!!!

Finally, we watched the latest show from the Safdie brothers, Neighbors. Nothing more American than fat ugly weirdos fighting over property lines with a feckless (ostensible) authority figure who’s just there to strike a cool pose while leaning on his Harley. In all fairness, I’d probably act weird too if my neighbor was a Lord of the Rings influencer. When will we reckon with the damage JRR Tolkien hath wrought?
